Neuromodulator Treatments: Botox and Xeomin Wrinkle-Relaxing Injections in Sherman Oaks

Residents of Sherman Oaks who are exploring cosmetic solutions for aging concerns or hyperhidrosis often turn to neuromodulator therapies like Botox and Xeomin. These injectables work on a neural level—blocking signals that trigger muscle contractions and allowing the skin above to rest and regenerate. Over time, this process can help restore a more youthful appearance and maintain healthy skin tone. Whether you’re noticing early signs of facial lines or dealing with unwanted sweating, neuromodulator treatments offer Sherman Oaks clients a reliable, low-maintenance solution.
What Are Neuromodulators

What Are Neuromodulators?

Neuromodulator injectables are specialized treatments used to soften dynamic facial wrinkles by gently relaxing the muscles responsible for repeated facial movements. These injectable agents are often based on natural substances or carefully designed to act like naturally occurring compounds in the body. They work by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that signals muscle contraction, thereby preventing fine lines and creases from deepening over time. These treatments offer a safe, non-surgical alternative for anyone seeking a refreshed look.

Common types of neuromodulator therapies include:

  • Botox: A go-to solution for dynamic wrinkles, Botox relies on Botulinum toxin to reduce facial tension and smooth out fine lines. It’s most often used to target visible signs of aging around the eyes, between the brows, and across the forehead that stem from repetitive muscle use.
  • Xeomin: Designed with a cleaner formulation, Xeomin also works to relax facial muscles and reduce wrinkle formation. Its protein-free structure may help lower the chances of resistance or allergic reaction, especially in long-term treatment plans.

Neuromodulators vs. Neurotransmitters: What's the Difference

Neurotransmitters and neuromodulators are both involved in managing how the brain and body communicate, especially through systems that include dopamine and serotonin. However, they differ in how they affect this communication: neurotransmitters send messages directly between nerve cells, while neuromodulators shape how those messages are received and responded to, often altering neural activity over a larger region.
Cosmetically, neuromodulators such as Botox and Xeomin target the muscles responsible for expression lines by interrupting the flow of nerve signals. This reduces muscle contractions and helps the skin appear more relaxed and youthful. On the other hand, clinical neuromodulation is a medical intervention that typically involves implanted devices to regulate nerve signals on a much broader scale. These treatments are often prescribed for conditions like depression or persistent pain and serve different purposes than cosmetic injectables, which are limited to localized aesthetic effects.

The Benefits of Neuromodulator Cosmetic Injectables

  • Remedying Dynamic Wrinkles
  • Repetitive facial movements such as frowning or laughing contribute to lines like crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles. Over time, decreased collagen levels make these wrinkles more visible. Neuromodulator injections relax the overactive muscles behind these lines, softening their appearance and giving the skin a smoother, more youthful texture.
  • Preventing New Wrinkle Formation
  • Consistent neuromodulator use not only addresses existing lines but also helps stop new ones from forming. By keeping facial muscles relaxed, these treatments prevent the habitual movements that gradually crease the skin, preserving a more even tone as you age.
  • Treatment for Excessive Sweating
  • Hyperhidrosis sufferers can also benefit from Botox and Xeomin, which help control sweating by interfering with nerve signals to sweat glands. This solution is especially effective for those dealing with chronic perspiration in the underarms, hands, or feet.
  • Quick, Non-Surgical Solution
  • Neuromodulator injections offer a practical alternative to surgical procedures. The treatment is fast and requires no incisions or recovery downtime, making it easy to fit into a lunch break or between errands.
  • Fast Results with Minimal Downtime
  • Patients usually begin to see visible results within just a few days post-injection. These effects can last up to half a year, with minimal discomfort or interruption to daily life—making it a popular choice for individuals on the go.

Are You A Good Candidate For Neuromodulator Treatments in Sherman Oaks?

Those living in Sherman Oaks may be ideal candidates for neuromodulator cosmetic injectables if they find themselves experiencing the following:
  • Aging skin
  • Crow’s feet
  • Excessive sweating
  • Frown lines and forehead furrows
  • Sagging skin
  • Wrinkles
At Lifestyle Med Spa, clients from Sherman Oaks can expect a detailed assessment during their consultation, reviewing both medical history and aesthetic goals to decide whether neuromodulator treatment aligns with their needs.

How To Prepare Yourself for Neuromodulator Treatments

Before moving forward with neuromodulator treatments like Botox or Xeomin, it’s important to take some preventive measures. These key steps can help minimize your risk of adverse effects and ensure a safer, more satisfying treatment outcome:

Disclose Health Conditions

Your treatment provider needs a clear picture of your medical history. Anyone with muscle disorders or recent infections near the injection site may not be a suitable candidate and should inform their provider in advance.

Medication Interactions

Botox and Xeomin can interact with certain medications. Disclose all prescription and over-the-counter drugs—especially muscle-affecting antibiotics like aminoglycosides—to prevent adverse effects.

Previous Surgeries

Surgeries on the face, neck, or jawline can influence your outcome. Make sure your provider knows about any past cosmetic or reconstructive procedures so they can customize your treatment plan.

Avoid During Pregnancy
or Breastfeeding

Neuromodulators are not considered safe for use during pregnancy or while nursing. Treatments should be postponed until after this period for your safety and that of your baby.

Limit Alcohol Consumption

Avoid wine, beer, or liquor the night before your procedure. Alcohol thins the blood and can lead to increased bruising at injection sites.

Arrive with a Clean Face

Wash your face thoroughly and skip makeup on the day of your visit. This minimizes the chance of bacteria entering the injection area and keeps your skin prepared for treatment.

What To Expect

Step 1: Consultation and Assessment

The first step involves a private consultation where we learn about your skin type, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences. We examine your facial expressions and muscle movement to decide whether Botox or Xeomin will deliver the outcome you’re looking for.

Step 2: Injection Site Preparation

When you come in for treatment, we sanitize the targeted skin to reduce the chance of infection. A numbing cream is gently applied to make the injection process more comfortable, especially if it’s your first time.

Step 3: Injection Process

Small doses of Botox or Xeomin are carefully injected into specific facial muscles with a fine needle. This stage typically takes no longer than 20 minutes and is quick and minimally invasive, with most clients experiencing only mild pressure.

Step 4: Post-Treatment Care

After injections, it's normal to experience slight swelling or tenderness. These effects fade quickly, often within the same day. We advise patients to avoid lying down or massaging their face for 24 hours to prevent the product from shifting.

Step 5: Results and Follow-Up

Expect to see noticeable results within 3 to 5 days, with complete improvement in about a week. These enhancements usually last for three to four months. To keep your results consistent, our team will help you plan follow-up treatments as needed.

When I inquired about medications for weight loss I was warmly welcomed by the staff and immediately assisted. There was no pressure of using their services, instead every question I had was answered. The decision was made and I decided to try the terzipitide. I easily needed to lose 25 lbs. I started off at the lowest dose for a month, then with the help you get from the amazing staff (which is invaluable), I’ve slowly gone up in strength of the medication, my last dose was 7.5mg. I’m on my 15th week and honestly I have never seen 27lbs just fall off so effortlessly. It works that’s all I can say, it really works.

When I first started doing research about weight loss shots and medical spas, there was so many sites not willing to be upfront about the cost. Lifestyle health services was the first to layout all out and I appreciated the straightforwardness. I originally told myself that I would go in once a month, ask for my shots in advance to be done at home, but as I got to know the staff I love going in for my weekly appointment. Nurse Nicole is wonderful, very personable and is always ready to answer any questions I might have. The receptionist Annie is the best! She has been most generous with her time and understanding if I've had to change an appointment last minute or even come later in the day. I consider them my ladies! The office is very accommodating and I would and have recommended this office and service to anyone asking how I have lost so much weight this past year.
